Welcome to The Batman Graphic Novel and New and Used Comics section, Batman Comics are published by DC Comics, Batman aka Bruce Wayne first appeared in Detective Comics #27, May 1939. Batman's origins start when he witnesses the murder of his parents and swears revenge, he then spends years training to become batman. His real identity is Bruce Wayne a millionaire and industrialist based in Gotham City. His crime-fighting partner is Robin aka Dick Grayson who Bruce Wayne takes in after Dick is orphaned. Other allies include Butler Alfred Pennyworth, Police Commissioner Jim Gordon and Batgirl. His enemies include The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poisin Ivy and The Penguin.
Batman does not have any actual super-powers but his detective skills, athletic prowess and scientific abilities meant he is regarded as one of the greatest super-heroes ever. And his inventions also help him like the utility belt and the bat mobile. Over the years there has been television programmes, cartoon and films made about Batman, the latest Batman film is due for release in 2012.
Robin
Robin aka Dick Grayson 1st appeared in Detective Comics #38 April 1940, Dick Grayson was a 9 year old acrobat, part of the family act called the Flying Grayson's. His family was killed by a gangster called Boss Zucco. Bruce Wayne takes Dick into his care and together they bring Zucco to justice.
The Joker
The Joker is one of Batman's arch-enemies, The Joker 1st appeared in Batman #1 spring 1940. He is a highly intelligent psychopath whose wide array of weapons include a flower on his lapel that shoots corrosive acid or poisonous gas, a high voltage hand buzzer, cyanide stuffed pies, a joker venom that causes the victim to laugh uncontrollable whilst they die and many more.
The Penguin
The Penguin real name Oswald Chesterfield Copperpot 1st appeared in Detective Comics #58 December 1941, he is a short obscene man who is always impeccably dressed and carries an umbrella, which is also a weapon. I October 2011 DC have released Penguin Pain and Prejudice #1.
Two-Face
Two-Face is hideously scarred on half his face after a criminal threw acid on him. He was once the District attorney Harvey Dent but after the attack he went insane and turned to a life of crime. He is famous for making decisions by the toss of a coin. He is one of Batman's biggest enemies.
Catwoman
Catwoman is an expert burglar, gymnast and extremely skilled in hand to hand combat. She has razor sharp retractable claws and often uses bullwhips. She has a love/hate relationship with Batman.
