Deadpool

Deadpool Comic Books and Graphic Novels

Welcome to The Deadpool Comics and Graphic Novels section, Deadpool Comics are published by Marvel Comics, Deadpool also known as Wade Wilson made his 1st appearance in New Mutants #98 in 1990, which I have the pleasure of owning, Deadpool is an extraordinary hand-to-hand combatant and is skilled in multiple unarmed combat techniques. He is a master of assassination techniques, is an excellent marksman, and is highly skilled with bladed weapons. In the early years Deadpool was mainly a hired assassin/mercenary, then learning he had contracted cancer he was offered hope in the form of Department K, a special weapons development branch of the Canadian government. Wilson became a test subject in Department K's branch of the joint U.S./Canadian superhuman enhancement project, the Weapon X Program; his cancer was temporarily arrested via the implantation of a healing factor derived from another Department K agent, the mutant adventurer Wolverine. Deadpool now possessed the same superhuman healing factor that Wolverine has, this allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human. As such, he can regrow severed limbs or vital organs.

Wilson was rejected from the Weapon X Program for killing teammate Slayback and was sent to the Hospice, supposedly a government facility where failed superhuman operatives were treated. However, unknown to the Canadian government, the Hospice's patients served as experimental subjects for Doctor Killebrew and his sadistic assistant Ajax, with the patients placing bets in a "deadpool" as to how long each subject would live. Killebrew subjected Wilson to various torturous experiments for his own deranged satisfaction. Then Ajax, angered by Wilson's taunts, lobotomized one of Wilson's friends. At Death's prompting, Wilson killed his friend to end his suffering. However, under Killebrew's rules any patient who killed another was to be executed; Ajax subsequently tore out Wilson's heart and left him for dead, but Wilson's thirst for vengeance was so strong that it jumpstarted his healing factor, regenerating his heart, although not curing his scarred body. Wilson then attacked Ajax, leaving him for dead in turn, and, taking the name Deadpool, escaped from the Hospice with his fellow patients. Deadpool then went back to being mainly a mercenary, eventually joining the new Weapon X Program but soon found the organisations methods too brutal even for him There is talk of a Deadpool film being made this summer, with Ryan Reynolds cast as Deadpool, Reynolds previously played Deadpool in a small role in the X-Men Origins Wolverine film,Joe Kelly's portrayal of Deadpool is the best by far, Issues 1 to 33 of his 90s solo book, along with the 97 Daredevil/Deadpool annual.

Weasel

Weasels real name is Jack Hammer, he is Deadpool's friend and arms dealer. Weasel met Deadpool as his job was that of an intelligence and weapons supplier to mercenaries. He met Deadpool in Canada shortly after Deadpool escaped from the Weapon X programme.

Vanessa

Vanessa or Copycat can metamorph into other people, mutants, animals etc. She was a long term love interest of Deadpool's.

T-Ray

T-Ray is a ruthless mercenary, he also has powerful magical powers. He is one of Deadpool longest running enemies. There has been many confrontations between the two, mostly verbal but one fight leaves Deadpool near death. T-Ray states that he is the real Wade Wilson and Deadpool killed his wife and then stole his identity as Wade Wilson.

Siryn

Whilst Siryn was a member of X-Force she becomes attracted to Deadpool, and tries becomes his conscience and get him onto the path of good. Deadpool does try as he is besotted with SIryn and often would turn up at her home to watch her whilst she sleeps.

Blind Al

Blind Al is a prisoner of Deadpool and lives with him, the reasons as to why he keeps her prisoner have never been made completely clear. They have a bizarre and complex relationship.
